Looking to do some steelhead fishing this winter, give my good friend Dan at Chagrin River Outfitters a call.

Funday Sunday

Every Sunday at this time of year brave, proud warriors strap on their equipment and head out to the grid iron where the winners are culled from the losers, men separated from boys. Today Rob and I pitted our sweet water skill set against a mighty mixed bag of powerful chain pickerel and wily yellow perch. Representatives of both species fell at our hands, victims of their own aggressiveness and lust for small jointed rebels.

I'm not sure what you want me to tell you mother, I live on an island in the middle of the north Atlantic and I write a blog about pickerel fishing. Clearly I wouldn't be holding my breath on the grand kids scenario.

Harvest Season Recap

People are always asking me, "Old man, what do Fishing the Vineyard kids do after the derby?" The answer that I always gave(which I ripped off from Rob) was "hang upside down in my parents basement 'till the stripers come back". That's funny, and those of you who know us are aware that there's an element of truth to it, but the kids have been known to experiment with some alternative fishing scenarios to pass the vast span of months that our local saltwater environment is void of targetable numbers of fin fish.

Right here you're looking at Patty boy from Edgartown. Pat's a long time friend and contributor to the site and this is some of his finest work to date. When he's not shredding perms Pat enjoys riding rental bikes, drinking frozen daiquiris and teaching his girlfriend how to push the boat around on the flats. What does one even say about such a lifestyle...I cry sweet tears of joy merely thinking about it.

Alright, it's not the biggest trout you've ever seen. Me neither. This photo is however a window into my recent pilgrimage to California. I'll spare you the litany of cliches about the weather and the girls and the liberal attitudes and such, but it's actually all true. California is a groovy place Kevin. I fished around the Lake Tahoe area with a guy named Mikey Wier (http://www.burlproductions.com/BurlProdutions.htm). I'm blessed in that I get to fish with some extremely talented guides and anglers on a year in year out basis, and Mikey is right there with any of them. Thanks Mikey.

When most folks go to Oak Bluffs they usually end up coming back with a slice of pizza or a tattoo or something. This is what happens when Rob goes to Oak Bluffs. This pickerel would be a nice sized saltwater fish, but clearly it is not. Congratulations Rob, you make us proud.

What? It's winter in a summer town kids, booze is obviously gonna be a factor.
